Vizbee User Privacy Policy

Overview

Privacy Commitment

Vizbee’s mission is to make streaming video a better viewing experience for you and a more sustainable business for media companies. A big part of our mission is our responsibility and commitment to your privacy. This privacy policy (‘Privacy Policy’) describes how Vizbee, Inc (‘Vizbee’) collects and uses information in connection with the products (‘Products’) we provide to our clients. Further, it explains the options that are available to you to help manage your privacy. We’ll try to make all of this as simple and clear as possible. If you have any questions, you can always contact us and we’ll be happy to help. (See the ‘Contact Us’ section below.)

Principles of our Privacy Policy

Our commitment for your privacy is reflected in the following five core principles of our Privacy Policy:

  • True Transparency - we clearly explain what we do, what information we collect and how long we retain this information.
  • User Benefits - we explain the legitimate bases for collecting information and the clear benefits to you as a user.
  • User Choice - we offer meaningful and easy options for you to opt-out of Vizbee Products and related features at any time.
  • Data Security - we outline our rigorous practices to ensure all of our user data is protected.
  • Children Policy - we share our commitment to not collect any information from children under the age of thirteen.

In further sections, we share more details related to each of these core principles. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (see Changes to the Privacy Policy section below).

True Transparency

What We Do

Vizbee enables streaming video companies (‘Clients’) to deliver better viewing experiences to their users and improve their overall monetization. Vizbee has two main products: 1. Vizbee Continuity (‘Continuity’) and 2. Vizbee HomeGraph (‘HomeGraph’).

The Vizbee Continuity product helps our Clients to enable their users to easily cast videos from their mobile phones to any big screen devices (like streaming boxes and smart TVs) in their vicinity. Vizbee Continuity automatically senses all the streaming devices that are present near a user and presents them as options for a user to cast videos. Vizbee Continuity also has important features to detect turned off smart TVs and to power them on, to check if a streaming video app is installed on a streaming box and automatically install it and also to automatically log a user into another device in their home once they are logged in to a first device. Overall, Vizbee Continuity seamlessly brings together the ease of using our mobile phones with the great viewing experience of big screen devices to deliver compelling user experiences.

The Vizbee HomeGraph product leverages the sensing capabilities of our Continuity product and complements it with machine learning and intelligent rule based inference capabilities to create a grouping of all the streaming devices associated with a user. Vizbee HomeGraph enables our Clients to improve how effectively they can promote new apps to individual users based on the streaming devices they own. Our HomeGraph product also helps advertising companies to merge attributes of various streaming devices associated with a user to deliver the most relevant ads to them.

For individual users, we ensure that they can easily cast videos from their mobile phones to any TV device for lean-back viewing and also see video app promotions and advertisements that are the most useful and relevant based on the streaming devices they have.

In short, we try to make video viewing, online video promotion and video advertising more pleasant and efficient for everyone - users, streaming video companies and advertisers.

What We Collect

Some Helpful Terminology

We use some phrases in this Privacy Policy that are unique to our business or the video industry. Here are some of the key terms that you’ll need to know to make it easier to review this Privacy Policy.

Device Advertising ID
The ‘Device Advertising ID’ is a unique, user-resettable ID for advertising by various mobile and streaming devices.

On the mobile devices, this ID is also known as the Mobile Advertising ID (MAID). Specifically, on the iPhone, the MAID corresponds to the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). Also, on Android mobile devices, the MAID corresponds to the Advertising ID provided by Google Play Services.

On streaming devices such as Roku and Samsung TV, this ID is also known as the TV Advertising ID (TAID). Specifically, on the Roku, the TAID corresponds to the Roku ID for Advertising (RIDA).

The Device Advertising ID gives users better privacy controls and enables users to reset their identifier or easily opt out of personalized ads.

Device Attributes
‘Device Attributes’ include information like name of manufacturer, model number, model name etc. that identify the specific type of the device.

Pseudonymization
‘Pseudonymization’ is a technique used to obfuscate the data such that the real data cannot be inferred easily from the pseudonymized data. However, the pseudonymized data may retain some useful properties such as the ability to compare two datums to verify if they are the same. Vizbee employs pseudonymization techniques to adequately protect and ensure safety of all data where applicable.

Data Retention

Users can render void any data corresponding to their devices by simply resetting their Device Advertising IDs. We also do not use device level data that is more than fourteen (14) months old. We retain the information that is reasonably linkable to a device only as long as is legitimately necessary for our Products and in no event longer than fourteen (14) months. Aggregate reports generated from this information may however be kept longer. We may also retain information as is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements.

User Benefits

Legal Bases for Collection and Use

We use the information collected by our Products as described in this Privacy Policy as necessary for our legitimate interests to deliver clear value to our Clients and their users. These legitimate interests include our goal to provide universal video casting, automatic app install, single sign-in and other beneficial capabilities to you with our Vizbee Continuity product and more relevant video app promotions and advertising with our Vizbee HomeGraph product.

Enhanced Product Features

With our Vizbee Continuity product we may enable enhanced features like:

  • Ability to detect turned off Smart TVs and automatically power them on when you select the device as a target for your mobile video casting
  • Ability to help users to automatically install streaming apps on CTVs from their mobile apps

User Choice

You have the right to object to Vizbee’s processing where we rely on legitimate interests. In addition, where you have given us consent to use your information in certain ways, we will rely on your consent to process the information. You may revoke that consent at any time by using the advertising preferences in your mobile device.

To adjust your advertising preferences in iOS, visit Settings > Privacy > Advertising > Limit Ad Tracking. To adjust your advertising preferences in Android, visit Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of interest-based ads. This will automatically turn off the app promotions and advertisements that are tailored to you based on the Vizbee HomeGraph data. Please keep in mind that if you opt-out, you may still receive the same number of ads though they will not be relevant to your interests.

Further, you can also reset your Device Advertising ID in your mobile device and/or your streaming device which will completely render void any information about the set of streaming devices or smart TVs associated with your mobile device in the Vizbee HomeGraph.

Data Security

We employ administrative, physical, and technical measures designed to protect the confidentiality and integrity of information that we hold. These measures may include encryption, pseudonymization and employment of information storage security technologies to restrict access to our network. Please be aware that no method of transmitting information over the Internet or storing information is completely secure. We have procedures and security features in place to help keep your data secure once we receive it.

Children Policy

Vizbee does not collect any data from a streaming video app that is used by children under 13, and in the EEA under 16.
